Deep Web Technologies Mobilizes Federated Search
SANTA FE, N.M., Nov. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Deep Web Technologies (DWT), the leader in federated search, announced today that it has implemented its popular Biznar™ and Mednar™ federated search web applications as native mode Apple® iOS apps for the iPhone®, iPad® and iPod touch®.
Biznar and Mednar are free, publicly available browser-based applications that search multiple Deep Web business and medical information sources for content that satisfies a user's query. Sources are searched in parallel (federated) and in real-time, with results being presented in relevance-ranked order. This ensures that users not only get the most relevant information but also that they get the "freshest" information available. Every day thousands of professionals use Biznar and Mednar to find the most relevant information available, enabling them to make informed decisions on the business and medical issues confronting them.
Since these apps have been made available for iOS, researchers in more than 50 countries on 6 continents have downloaded them to their iPhones, iPads and iPods for use in their professional lives for locating critical information.
Abe Lederman, president and founder of Deep Web Technologies, commented, "We are in the midst of a paradigm shift where more and more information is being accessed via smart mobile devices. Now, with Biznar and Mednar being available on the iOS platform, we've cleared the way for bringing Deep Web content to wherever the user may be."
Charles Knight, creative director of the highly regarded blog AltSearchEngines (http://www.AltSearchEngines.com), stated, "I have been exposed to every alternative approach imaginable that sought to go beyond a standard Google search. Each one had their strengths and weaknesses. For business and medical research, Deep Web Technologies has selected just the right approach for their Biznar and Mednar apps: advanced federated search."
Working in partnership with Texas Medical Center (TMC), the world's largest medical institution and a DWT customer, and 3E Enterprises (http://www.3eenterprises.com), a Texas-based software consultancy, DWT designed, developed and tested iOS native-mode versions of Biznar and Mednar. These applications now serve as prototypes for implementation of custom-built mobile applications for customers, such as TMC, for use by their mobile professionals.
iOS versions of Biznar and Mednar are immediately available for free download from the Apple App Store. Browser-based versions of these applications can be accessed online at http://www.biznar.com and http://www.mednar.com .
