Declara Acquires Context-Aware Computing Technology From Whodini, Continues Expanding and Building on 2014 Momentum
PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Declara, a company building technology to simplify everyday learning, today announced that it has acquired the context-aware computing technology of Whodini, which Silicon Valley Business Journal named Business Technology of the Year in the 2012 Idea and Innovation Awards.
"We're excited to bring the talent and innovations of Whodini into the Declara fold," said Declara CEO and founder Ramona Pierson. "The technology and collective know-how of the Whodini team will help Declara build on what we have achieved in a very eventful 2014."
In addition to acquiring Whodini technology, Declara this year secured Series A funding, expanded into Asia and continued to grow its position in the United States and Latin America. In March, Pierson was named to Business Insider's Silicon Valley 100: The Coolest People in Tech Right Now.
Declara also appointed Whodini Founder and President Ani Chaudhuri as Vice President, Products, UX & Growth; and Pankaj Anand as Vice President, Engineering.
"Ani, Pankaj and the two founding engineers from Whodini, Nitin Arora and Puneet Trehan, are veterans of three startups," said Debra Chrapaty, Declara's COO. "Their collective expertise will help further accelerate all that we have so far achieved. As a team, they hold several patents around large-scale infrastructure architecture; high-end computational processes; and usability."
Declara's clients include SNTE (Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educacion), Mexico's largest teacher's union, and Education Services Australia.
