DeckCrafters Helps New Jersey Homeowners Extend Deck Season into Fall with a New TimberTech® Deck
SCRANTON, Pa., Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Who says fun on the deck has to end as the days get shorter? Fall can be the perfect time for a deck, especially if it's made with the latest capped composites on the market, according to Mike Corvino, owner of DeckCrafters based in Cherry Hill, NJ. He and his partner, his son-in-law Luke Stewart, recently built a deck with TimberTech's "capped" composite from the Legacy Collection, which has an extra layer of protection to resist stains, scratches and fading.
Located in Mount Laurel, NJ, the project was designed to give the homeowners, Steve Roseman and Robin Levin, a multi-functional deck for outdoor meals and entertaining. They chose Legacy's Tigerwood, with the look of hand-scraped indoor flooring, trimmed in Mocha. "Having a low maintenance product is great, but better yet, it gives the appearance of real wood without the headaches associated with wood," said Roseman. The deck was topped off with TimberTech's RadianceRail® in black to pull out the Tigerwood boards' darker hues. DeckCrafters also used TimberTech's hidden fastener system which contributes to the look of an interior floor.
The design considered the couple's lifestyle with the barbeque near the kitchen door so the cook can go back and forth uninterrupted, while a dining area on the upper deck serves as a convenient spot for family meals. An open, flared staircase leads to a roomy lower deck with additional seating for entertaining.
To extend nighttime enjoyment, TimberTech deck lighting with a remote-control dimmer was installed on all post caps, along with stair riser lights for safety. "The lighting was a must once we saw it in person!" said Roseman. "It gives us sufficient lighting for evenings on the deck or more subtle mood lighting when we want it."
The space under the deck was made more appealing and functional with a TimberTech system called DrySpace that allows the area to serve as a storage shed. DeckCrafters installed deck skirting using vertical Tigerwood boards to hide the exposed understructure of the deck. "We actually saved on the cost of a shed," noted Roseman.
The homeowners are thrilled with the new deck. "DeckCrafters went above and beyond to create a deck that is built to last, using great products," said Roseman. "With their skill and expert advice, our deck turned out great for the Fall season and beyond!"
