Decade Software Celebrates Successful User Training Conference
FRESNO, Calif., Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Environmental health specialists from across the United States came together last week to train, network, and hear from industry leaders at a User Training Conference held by Decade Software Company.
Environmental health agencies protect public health by regulating, permitting, and educating businesses. Examples include retail food (food safety), hotels and other multi-tenant housing, swimming pools, underground tanks, drinking water, solid waste, sanitary septic systems, body art, hazardous materials, and air quality.
Decade's annual conference, known as TrainCon, is an opportunity for users of Decade's industry-leading data management application, EnvisionConnect, to advance their knowledge of the software as it relates to permitting, inspections, billing, complaints, and other agency services. Twenty-seven courses over two days covered topics ranging from basic EnvisionConnect functionalities to new features including mass email notifications to agency customers, improved GIS capabilities, and a new Decade product that enables online payments, applications, and service requests.
"We welcomed a record number of attendees this year to TrainCon," says Darryl Booth, Decade President. "Nearly 200 professionals from 50 environmental and consumer health, fire, and hazardous materials divisions were represented with us this year, which is a fantastic achievement and evidence of both EnvisionConnect's value to these civic entities and the passion of these individuals to effectively impact and protect environmental health."
Keynote Speaker and National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) President Carolyn Harvey spoke to attendees on the future of NEHA and the industry as a whole, particularly on much-needed changes coming to the education and certification process of environmental health professionals nationwide.
Decade presented awards to six clients who demonstrated innovative best practices or projects. TrainCon 2014's winners included:
- Outstanding Performance in Implementation – City of Pasadena, Public Health Department
- Leadership in Innovation – Yolo County Environmental Health Department
- Exceptional Reporting – Tri County Health Department
- Strategic Deployment of EnvisionConnect Remote – Sonoma County DHS Environmental Health Division
- Excellence in Data Practices – Boulder County Public Health
- Adopting Technology to Advance Agency Operations – Los Angeles County Health Department
The conference theme was Building Capacity, based on Decade's initiative with NEHA to improve agency efficiency and streamline business operations. "This topic is dominating conversations for many municipalities across the country, whose responsibilities are increasing without the necessary corresponding extra resources," notes Booth. "By focusing on this extremely relevant subject and by showcasing such exciting new features that promise to enhance agency capabilities, TrainCon 2014 stands out as the most productive and well-received Decade conference yet!"
