The DDF Support Community has various discussion topics such as stomach cancer treatments, raising awareness, financial assistance, fundraising events, and survivor stories. DDF's Patient Resource Education Program (PREP) mentors are active on the page and offer support to members in the program. As stomach cancer survivors, DDF PREP mentors guide patients through their diagnosis, staging, treatment options, side effect management, disease management, and other issues. PREP mentors also provide information about research and clinical trials.
"By becoming active in our support community, you will not be alone in your fight," said Debbie Zelman, the President and Founder of Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer. "Participants share their stories, concerns, tips, and advice in hopes of making a difference in someone's fight against gastric cancer."
Debbie Zelman founded DDF in 2009 after being diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer in 2008. Debbie's Dream Foundation seeks to bring attention and action to this important cause. DDF encourages people to spread the word about early detection and screening because if a patient is diagnosed at an early stage, the chances of being cured dramatically increase.
