DDJ Capital's Core High Yield Strategy Celebrates First Anniversary With $1.9B in Client Assets
WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- DDJ Capital Management, LLC, an institutional investment manager of high yield, bank loan and special situations strategies for clients worldwide, is pleased to mark the first anniversary of its dedicated core high yield strategy which, since inception on October 1, 2012, has attracted $1.9 billion of client assets.
DDJ Capital, at the request of existing clients invested in the firm's long-standing opportunistic high yield strategy, developed a core high yield portfolio that seeks to outperform the BB/B rated segment of the high yield bond market. The strategy, which employs the firm's value-oriented, fundamental investment philosophy, takes advantage of DDJ's extensive experience investing throughout the lower tier of the credit markets.
Core high yield, led by DDJ portfolio manager Joseph Lind, offers investors a higher quality, more liquid strategy than the firm's opportunistic high yield portfolios, which target primarily middle market opportunities in the lower tier – single B and below – of the non-investment grade credit markets in the U.S. and Canada.
"Appetite for higher-yielding credit strategies continues to be robust in the U.S. and internationally as investors seek alternatives in a low-yield bond environment," said David Breazzano, president and chief investment officer of DDJ Capital.
"With the U.S. economy slowly improving, we believe interest rates will tend to move higher, and are positioning our core high yield portfolio more defensively to shield against that shift," Lind said.
The core high yield strategy, which had $700 million in client assets at inception, has since grown to $1.9 billion.
DDJ Capital manages opportunistic high yield, core high yield, senior loan, and strategic income strategies for U.S. and international institutional investors.
