ddc announces the unveiling of their newly renovated showroom for NYC Design Week: Launch Party 5.20.13
ddc DESIGNPOST, in the original flagship location at 181 Madison, continues to evolve with a modern lower level
NEW YORK, May 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Since its inception in 2010, ddc DESIGNPOST has been home to a rotating lineup of top European designers, focusing on the brand identity of each through allocated showroom space. This year, DESIGNPOST will welcome Italian leather specialist, Baxter, and Swiss design icon, Vitra, to join Zanotta, Missoni Home, and Paola Lenti in their 34th Street space (originally conceived by architect, Phillip Johnson, in 2000). The basement level will now have a darker, industrial look, providing a stark contrast to the bright and clean geometry of the upper levels.
Baxter joins the lineup as a brand that conveys emotion through traditional Italian craftsmanship with their production of highly customized furniture (often through screen printing and vintage pieces), while maintaining their personal identity as master tanners and leather connoisseurs. They have also evolved into the modern world, practicing eco-friendly manufacturing standards when possible. New product highlights include the Sorrento sofa, Vietri tables, Capri chairs, and the Positano bed.
Esteemed Swiss manufacturer, Vitra, will also join as a part of the new 2013 Spring Collection bringing their functional and contemporary pieces to ddc's newly renovated downstairs. Showcased will be such classics as the Panton chair, Jean Prouve's Standard chair, along with Antonio Cittero's Grand Repos lounge chair and Suita sofa.
Zanotta introduces the Bruce sofa this spring, designed by Ludovica & Roberto Palomba, accompanied by the Ink side tables, which utilize an innovative new surface finish that combines printed fabric with durable resin.
Missoni Home will introduce their new candle line, along with a new collection of outdoor furniture and fabrics, such as the Margherite line of interplaying colors, blacks and whites, and metallics.
Paola Lenti new product highlights include the Welcome sofa, Otto poufs, Please sofa, and Strap side tables. They have also introduced new fabrics with an emphasis on the interplay of color.
