"Winning 10 Webby awards demonstrates that the DDB Group is approaching digital campaigns in innovative ways," said Amir Kassaei, CCO of DDB Worldwide. Winning campaigns include DDB's work for Volkswagen (www.beetle.com), State Farm Insurance (www.showcasedwork.com/tribute) and Trace Urban TV (www.ddbparis-campaignsonline.com/Tracetv), and Tribal DDB's Intel work (www.youtube.com/inteltheescape). The 21st Century Beetle – Rock 'n' Scroll campaign by the DDB team in Berlin won four awards including a Webby Award and People's Voice Award for Best Automotive Website, and Webby Awards for Best Navigation/Structure Website and Best Visual Design/Function Website.
Academy judges including Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, Arianna Huffington and mobile phone inventor Martin Cooper selected the Webby Award winners, while Internet voters around the world chose the winners of the Webby People's Voice Awards with a Webby record of nearly 1.5 million votes cast from over 200 countries.
Each year, the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) acknowledges the outstanding individuals whose groundbreaking Internet work stands out. The Special Achievement Webbys, selected by the Academy, celebrate the winners' commitment to leveraging the Internet to foster innovation and add to the growth of Internet culture.
"We're proud to be recognized by the Webby Awards for our fantastic creative work and results for our clients," added Paul Gunning, Chief Digital Officer at DDB Worldwide. "These accolades are a testament of our talented people around the network and where we are focusing the company and the work we do for our clients."
Winners will be celebrated at a star-studded ceremony at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on Monday, May 21, 2012, at 5:30 p.m. and presented with their awards. There, many will deliver their version of the famous Webby 5-Word Speeches.
