DDB Life Style Study Gleans Insight on Past and Present U.S. Presidents and First Ladies
NEW YORK, Feb. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- According to the DDB Life Style Study® – the nation's longest running and largest longitudinal study of attitudes and behaviors, conducted annually since 1975 – the most popular choice of a hypothetical dinner companion among U.S. presidents was the country's current president, Barack Obama. According to the study, female respondents were more intrigued than their male counterparts by the idea of a dinner date with the current president, with 25% of females selecting President Obama, compared to 16% of men.
12% of respondents chose Abe Lincoln – the sixteenth President of the United States – as a dinner partner, making him the second most popular choice. Tied for third place were former presidents Bill Clinton, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan (each at 9%).
When asked which First Lady respondents admired most, First Lady Michelle Obama was the top choice at 19%. Hillary Clinton came in second (at 13%), while Jackie Kennedy (10%), Eleanor Roosevelt (9%) and Nancy Reagan (6%) rounded out the top five.
"Before we fielded the study we assumed 'Honest Abe' Lincoln would be a top contender and we're proved correct with his placement in the number two slot," said Denise Delahorne, SVP and Group Strategy Director at DDB U.S. "We also found it interesting how much attitudes towards Hillary Clinton have shifted over the years, likely given her role as a senator, presidential candidate and secretary of state, since she was First Lady."
The 2013 DDB Life Style Study was fielded among 6,429 respondents during January 2013.
