HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., May 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- May is National Water Safety Month. Summer and pool season is upon us, and a reminder that pool owners must follow simple steps to protect their loved ones.
According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control), drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death in children 1-4. Drowning is preventable.
Isolation and perimeter fencing are a recommended solution for pool and spa protection—this information is being spread around the country each day by the National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA) as well as Pool Safely, part of the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC).
D&D Technologies is a founding member, an active sponsor of the NDPA, and a Community Safety Leader with the Pool Safely campaign.
"We are on a mission to save lives," said Jim Paterson, Senior VP of Sales and Marketing, North & South America, D&D Technologies. "Drowning is the number one cause of unintentional death for children 1-4, and the second leading cause for those 14 and under. All the innovation, technology and passion that we put into manufacturing safety gate products is done with one intention in mind: protect children, protect our loved ones."
D&D revolutionized pool safety with the invention of the world's first magnetic gate latch. David Doyle, founding father of D&D Technologies discovered neodymium magnets never lose power. He engineered and patented MagnaLatch®, the world's first magnetic safety latch. Since then, MagnaLatch® has become the number one child and pet safety pool gate latch in the world. Combined with TruClose® self-closing hinges, made out of engineering polymer, D&D offers the most reliable solutions for pool and spa safety gates.
"Remember, drowning is preventable," said Jackie Barrera, Director of Marketing, North and South America. "Take time to get involved during May National Water Safety Month. Join the movement. Take the Pledge."
The Pledge is a simple call to action for people to commit to safety steps around the water. Kids will pledge to never go in the water without an adult nearby. Adults will pledge to always watch kids in the water, to learn CPR, and ensure their pools have proper fencing and gates. Take the Pool Safely Pledge by visiting https://www.poolsafely.gov/pledge.
