HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 3, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is offering two webinars this month to help communities prepare applications for Community Conservation Partnership Program grants. Applications are due April 20, 2011.
Under the grant program, local and county governments and non-profit organizations can apply for funding to address their recreation and conservation needs as well as support recreational tourism efforts.
The first webinar, scheduled for Nov. 5 at 10 a.m., will focus on developing "ready to go" grant applications. Consultants, municipal officials, recreation and park professionals, land trusts, and other non-profit conservation and/or recreation-based organizations are encouraged to register.
Webinar participants will gain an understanding of the requirements to submit a competitive grant application and the electronic application process, and learn where to find resources to help prepare an application.
The second webinar, on Nov. 16 at 10 a.m., will highlight best practices for "greening" recreation and conservation projects. A significant percentage of the grant application ranking criteria are dedicated to scoring the green design and development elements for parks, recreation facilities, trails and associated amenities. This training will provide participants an opportunity to learn from leading landscape architects about site design and construction best practices.
Space for each online session is limited to 200 registrants. The webinars will be 90 minutes each with the last 30 minutes dedicated to answering questions.
To register for the webinars, go to http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/Calendar/list.asp?intDivisionID=24. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with the log-in and call-in information.
