DCH Auto Group Charitable Foundation Announces Award and New Name
SOUTH AMBOY, N.J., June 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tonight as we are honored by the Association for Safe International Road Travel (ASIRT) with their Industry Safety Leadership Award, the Board of Directors of the DCH Auto Group Charitable Foundation is excited to announce the Foundation's change of name to National Foundation for Teen Safe Driving ("NFTSD"). While the name has changed, the Foundation's mission has not; we will continue to dedicate our resources to promoting teen safe driving with teen peer to peer activism as our cornerstone.
"We believe our new name better represents the vision of the organization as a national advocate for teen safe driving positioned to foster a culture of safety at the community level," states Susan Scarola, Foundation president. "Car crashes are the leading cause of teen deaths in the United States, and the Foundation is dedicated to preventing such tragedies."
NFTSD has its roots within DCH Auto Group. In 2008, in keeping with the company's core values, Shau-wai Lam, now Chairman Emeritus, focused DCH's charitable giving and local community engagement to the cause of teen safe driving. Today DCH is part of Lithia Motors Inc. and Mr. Lam serves on Lithia's Board as well as retaining his Chairmanship of NFTSD.
With this close alliance we are proud that Lithia and DCH, among others, are dedicated to supporting the Foundation as it expands its nationally recognized work beyond its DCH base. NFTSD will continue to build alliances with businesses, government, law enforcement, schools, parents, teens and others in the safety community to prevent these tragedies and it will remain under the leadership of Roy Bavaro as its Executive Director.
More information about the Foundation can be found on its website at www.nftsd.org.
