DC Rally Against Terrorism, Hate and Gun Violence to be Announced
WASHINGTON, June 28, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Prominent Interfaith Community leaders will announce a major rally to show their commitment to countering terrorism, hate and intolerance, Thursday June 30th at 10 a.m. at the National Press Club's Murrow Room at 529 14th Street NW, Washington, DC.
The "Americans Against Terrorism, Hate and Gun Violence" Rally will be held Saturday July 23rd at the Washington Monument.
American Muslims and their interfaith partners have long and consistently denounced any terrorist acts and have promoted national security for all Americans. American Muslims are partners in national security and are working to protect this nation in cooperation with law enforcement. Yet mainstream America have too often overlooked these efforts and even questioned "Where are the moderate voices?" This Rally is intended as another effort to counter those uninformed allegations.
The Rally will show support for American inclusiveness with its categorical rejection of the rising tide of hateful bigoted rhetoric in the political arena and the increase in gun violence and terrorist acts in the United States and around the world.
Organizers are encouraging thousands of Americans to join in peace to confirm we are stronger together: when one person, one religion, one race is discriminated against, we are all discriminated against, and when one person suffers violence, we all suffer. The Rally will show that faith groups across America condemn terrorism, hate and intolerance and are friends, neighbors and colleagues who all contribute richly to the well being, strength, peace and unity of our nation.
Rally sponsors already number more than 20 organizations including American Islam and representatives of the Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Sikh, Hindu, and Bahai religions, as well as with the participation of many other religious, ethnic institutions and communities.
The announcement will begin at 10 a.m. in the Murrow Room of the National Press Club.
