D.C. Metro Muslims to Distribute Food, Clothing, Books, Toys and Hygiene Kits to Families in Need
"Day of Dignity" event is part of Islamic Relief USA's annual nationwide campaign
WASHINGTON, Dec. 13, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Hundreds of Muslims from the Washington metropolitan area will help distribute food, winter clothing, books, toys and hygiene kits to more than 2,000 local people in need as part of Islamic Relief USA's (IR USA) annual Day of Dignity campaign.
In its eighth year, Day of Dignity is a nationwide campaign that recruits more than 2,000 volunteers who in turn serve approximately 20,000 homeless and people in need in 22 cities throughout America. The Washington metropolitan area's event, which will serve two different locations, is in its fifth year.
The Washington, D.C., event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 18 at the Community for Creative Non-violence homeless shelter at 425 Second St. N.W. from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Maryland Capitol Heights event will also take place on Saturday, Dec. 18 at Oak Crest Community Center at 1300 Capitol Heights Blvd., Capitol Heights, Md., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
