DC: CAIR Reps to Join SCOTUS Rally in Support of Voting Rights
WASHINGTON, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Wednesday, February 27, representatives of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights organization, will join members of Congress and others at a rally outside the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C., to show support for the Voting Rights Act.
Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will begin hearing oral arguments in "Shelby County, Alabama v. Holder" on the constitutionality of Section 5 of the act, which requires states with a history of voter discrimination to obtain federal clearance before changing state voting laws.

Members of the "Quad Caucus," leaders from the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Congressional Black Caucus, Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, will speak at a news conference prior to the rally.

In a statement of support for the 1965 Voting Rights Acts, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
