MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Folio Investing and Folio Institutional today announced the launch of VIA Folio: Folio's Private Capital Network, an online equity and debt funding platform designed to connect investors, brokers and advisors with private companies seeking funding.
VIA Folio will offer private company equity and debt as well as participation in hedge funds, private equity funds, and real estate funds, among other types of private investments.
Matchbox Food Group LLC, operator of the Washington, D.C. restaurant concepts Matchbox, DC-3 and Ted's Bulletin, has initiated a debt offering of $10.5 million to expand its operations and is making it available on the network. The debt offering will be in the form of 10.125% non-convertible subordinated debt with a seven-year maturity. Matchbox has stated it intends to use the proceeds of the offering to expand its proven restaurant concepts into new locations.
"Matchbox will be the first private debt offering on the platform using the Regulation D Rule 506(c) offering exemption, and it is a great example of how an established local company with a strong public profile can use VIA Folio to secure growth capital," said Blaine McLaughlin, head of Folio's Private Capital Network. "We invite other established companies to talk with us about using our services."
VIA Folio's offerings are available immediately to clients of Folio Investing and to financial advisors on the Folio Institutional platform. Those who aren't Folio customers can sign up for access to this and other offerings at VIAFolio.com, and can view the Matchbox offering at VIAFolio.com/Matchbox.
"Matchbox selected VIA Folio as the platform on which to issue its debt offering because of the innovations we saw coming from Folio," said Ty Neal, co-founder and CEO of Matchbox Food Group. "Their platform offers a new and streamlined way for investors and their advisors to find and invest in companies seeking capital."
Another attraction was the exposure to the hundreds of registered investment advisor firms with billions of dollars of assets who manage their client portfolios on Folio Institutional.
"This sophisticated population of advisors already working on our platform are looking for new ways to diversify investment portfolios and VIA Folio will be a great new tool for them to do that," added Greg Vigrass, President of Folio Institutional.
