Dawnbreaker to Host 2015 Navy Opportunity Forum®
ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The 15th annual Navy Opportunity Forum® will be held June 1-3, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency in Crystal City, VA. The 2015 Navy Opportunity Forum® provides a unique opportunity for attendees to view and evaluate technology transitioning from the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. Acquisition sponsors, large defense contractors, equity investors, Fortune 500 companies, first and second tier suppliers, Navy personnel, Department of Defense employees, and members of the press are all encouraged to register and attend the Forum.
"We see a lot of prime contractor activity every year at the Forum, because from a logistics standpoint, it makes sense," says Dawnbreaker President Dr. Jenny C. Servo. "Engineers and key personnel can meet with over one hundred small businesses over the course of three days, all under one roof that have received funding to address Navy problems."
The Navy Opportunity Forum® provides the framework to efficiently inspect and evaluate innovative technologies through small business exhibit booths, exciting presentations and strategic one-on-one introduction meetings. Presentations address technical capabilities, transition paths, and strategic goals of the firms. Additionally, the Forum will provide a speaking venue for top defense policy makers, and offers displays by the Navy's Office of Research and Technology Applications (ORTA).
The SBIR/STTR technologies being presented at this year's Forum can be viewed via the Virtual Acquisition Showcase® (VAS) at http://www.virtualacquisitionshowcase.com. The VAS, which features 148 Navy sponsored projects, assists attendees in determining which technologies they want to review and companies they want to visit. Strategic one-on-one introduction meetings can be scheduled to obtain additional information about specific technologies. This year's Virtual Acquisition Showcase® includes 58 main categories and 164 sub categories to help attendees search and easily locate technologies with appropriate capabilities that match the user's needs.
Every year, the Navy Opportunity Forum® sets the stage for small businesses to provide solutions to Navy needs. The Forum seeks to put the right individuals in the right place at the right time to uphold the goals of the Navy SBIR/STTR program to transition technology to the warfighter.
