(NYSE: DVA), one of the nation's largest and most innovative health care communities, is encouraging individuals and businesses to support local nonprofits on Colorado Gives Day, Dec. 9, in an effort to strengthen community and create a culture of support.

Colorado Gives Day – an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy through online giving – encourages strategic partnerships between businesses, individuals and nonprofits.

Although none of these organizations perform work related to DaVita HealthCare Partners' core business, the company has longstanding relationships with all of them due to its strong commitment to community engagement. All of the organizations benefiting from the donation encourage innovation, creativity and service excellence in the areas of education and culture.

In the last three years, DaVita HealthCare Partners has given nearly $5 million to local nonprofits in Colorado. But DaVita HealthCare Partners' community engagement goes well beyond corporate philanthropy.

DaVita HealthCare Partners has a unique partnership with Denver Public Schools to design customized leadership and development programs for administrators, principals and teachers. The programs are modeled on longstanding DaVita University training and development courses and initiatives, including Academy, DaVita Way of Management, DaVita Way of Team and DaVita Way of Leadership.

DaVita HealthCare Partners also created a program called "Dynamic Volunteerism" that aims to help local nonprofits grow and thrive in ways unique to their needs.
