Davis Phinney Foundation Extends Popular Living Well Challenge™ Webinar With New Webisodes on Living Well With Parkinson's Disease
-- The Foundation Invites All People Affected by Parkinson's Disease to "Take the Challenge" --
BOULDER, Colo., Oct. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Davis Phinney Foundation (www.davisphinneyfoundation.org) announced today that it is offering the first of three bi-monthly webinar episodes as part of its expanding Living Well Challenge™ educational series focused on ways to live well with Parkinson's disease.
In June 2011, the Living Well Challenge debuted with a multi-topic webisode featuring a panel of leading movement disorder experts that presented information on exercise, (confirm/modify with 1-2 more topics). The Foundation received such a positive webinar response from the Parkinson's community that it committed to extend the series indefinitely, beginning with a new webisode featuring movement disorder neurologist and researcher Holly Shill, M.D., medical director of Banner Sun Health Research Institute. In this webisode, which runs approximately 30 minutes in length, Dr. Shill will present a comprehensive overview of current Parkinson's research and what it means for people living with the chronic disease.
The webisode is available through the Davis Phinney Foundation website beginning today in an on-demand format to enable individuals and support groups wishing to view the videos the ability to watch them online at any time.
"These webisodes are designed to provide valuable information to people affected by Parkinson's disease without the constraint of adhering to a specific broadcast date," said Polly Dawkins, executive director of the Davis Phinney Foundation. "We hope that support groups will take advantage of this new, flexible format to create their own local events and discussion around the topics covered in Living Well Challenge webisodes."
The three new Living Well Challenge webisodes include:
- "What Does Parkinson's Research Mean to You?" Holly Shill, M.D.; Available: October 5, 2011
- "How to Communicate with Your Doctor" Janet Chance, M.D.; December 1, 2011
- "Panel Discussion on Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Therapy" Melissa Houser, M.D.; February 1, 2012
The "Living Well Challenge" series is available free of charge. Participants can visit http://davisphinneyfoundation.org/living-pd/webinar/videos/ to complete a one-time registration and create a personal login. Once the login is created, participants can access current and future content as often as desired by logging in with their username and password.
