David's Bridal Unveils Partnership with Bright Pink®
Bridal retailer and non-profit introduce an integrated campaign on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Feb. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As the nation's leading bridal and special occasion authority, David's Bridal is honored to outfit a woman for the many milestones in her life, most notably her wedding day. To help encourage customers to be proactive about their health as they plan their future, David's Bridal is proud to partner with Bright Pink®, a national non-profit on a mission to save women's lives from breast and ovarian cancer by empowering them to live proactively starting at a young age.
Through an integrated awareness campaign David's Bridal and Bright Pink will educate young women on the importance of early detection, how they can take control and manage their health, and various lifestyle habits that can help reduce the risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
Beginning today, DavidsBridal.com will invite customers to complete Bright Pink's Assess Your Risk tool and to register for Breast Health Reminders™, as well as launch a digital donation campaign. In addition, David's Bridal is announcing a contribution of $1 to Bright Pink for every page created in their Dream Wedding Pinterest Contest, up to $50,000.
Bright Pink was founded in 2007 by Lindsay Avner. Inspired by her strong family history and personal breast and ovarian cancer risk assessment, Lindsay came to realize the lack of resources available to women like her, who were young and healthy, but wanted to be proactive with their health. There are 52 million women in the US between the ages of 18 and 45. All are at some risk for breast and ovarian cancer. The average woman's lifetime risk of breast cancer is 1 in 8 or 12%, making it the leading cancer diagnosis in the US. The average woman's lifetime risk of ovarian cancer is 1 in 67, and it is the deadliest gynecologic disease; two thirds of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer will die as a result. But when detected early, the 5-year survival rate for both of these diseases is greater than 92%. Bright Pink focuses on the power each and every one of those 52 million women has to be proactive – to reduce her risk for these cancers or detect them early, while they are still treatable.
