BROOKFIELD, Wis., Oct. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- OnCourse Learning Director of Gaming Programs David Vialpando was honored Oct. 3 as one of two 2017 Gaming Regulators of the Year – Indian Country by the International Masters of Gaming Law during an award reception at the 2017 Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas.
"It is truly an honor to receive this recognition from the International Masters of Gaming Law," said Vialpando, who received the award at the Wynn Country Club. "My overarching goal in the various careers I've enjoyed — law enforcement, education, and tribal gaming regulation — has been to advance best practices and innovative technology to improve our delivery of service and assist my professional counterparts in accomplishing the goals of their organizations."
Vialpando, who also is chairman of the California-based Santa Ysabel Tribal Gaming Commission, was lauded for his overall body of work as a regulator and as someone who has made noteworthy contributions to the Indian gaming industry.
"Your work in promoting tribal regulations for new and innovative gaming products for tribal casinos, as well as being a frequent author and panelist on gaming issues is in keeping with the IMGL's mission of 'advancing gaming through education," IMGL President Michael E. Zatezalo said in a letter notifying Vialpando of the award.
"Kudos to David for exemplifying what OnCourse Learning stands for as a preeminent leader in the training and e-learning space," said Brett Shively, executive vice president of OnCourse Learning Financial Services.
"As a company that helps businesses enhance their workforces, remain compliant and advance careers through technology-based personal learning, the International Masters of Gaming Law award is a distinction David's colleagues can celebrate," Shively said. "With this award, David joins a select group that is among the best of the best in the gaming industry, a sector where OnCourse Learning is evolving as a true leader."
Vialpando, who joined OnCourse Learning in early 2017, is responsible for cutting-edge product development in gaming operations and compliance education. He also will help build educational content to address contemporary challenges confronting today's gaming professionals.
The co-recipient of the 2017 Gaming Regulators of the Year – Indian Country award was Terry Hale, chief gaming regulator of the Seminole Nation Gaming Authority of Oklahoma.
