Robinson Brings Years of Outstanding Service in the Union to New Position
WASHINGTON, Jan. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- David Robinson, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 486 and President of Teamsters Joint Council 43 in Michigan, was sworn in today as a Central Region Vice President, Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced.

Robinson has been a Teamster for nearly 40 years and his hard work, commitment and dedication has gained the respect of members and officers throughout the union, Hoffa said.
"Dave Robinson started his Teamster career as a driver and has steadily worked his way up the ranks," Hoffa added. "He has excelled in every role our union has asked him to take on and I know he will be extremely successful in his new role as a Central Region Vice President."

Robinson began his Teamster career in 1973 when he joined Local 332 in Flint, Michigan as a warehouse driver. He became a business agent with that local in 1983. In 1985, he became a business agent for Local 486 in Saginaw, Michigan and in 1993 was elected its principal officer, a position he currently holds. Robinson was elected to the executive board of Teamsters Joint Council 43 in 1994 and was recently elected its president.
In 1999, Hoffa appointed Robinson as an International Representative in the Package Division and in 2001 he became the Central Region Package Director, a position he currently holds.
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters was founded in 1903 and represents 1.4 million hardworking men and women in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
