David Perla, President of Bloomberg Law, Elected to College of Law Practice Management
ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- David Perla, the president of Bloomberg BNA's Legal Division and Bloomberg Law, and a longtime innovator within the legal services industry, has been elected a fellow of the College of Law Practice Management, a highly selective body of business leaders within the legal industry.
Mr. Perla's election to the College of Law Practice Management comes one year after his appointment to head Bloomberg BNA's Legal Division and Bloomberg Law, subsidiaries of Bloomberg LP that provide leading information, technology, workflow and data analytics solutions to lawyers, law students, and legal staff. For Perla, who in 2004 co-founded what became the world's leading legal outsourcing company, it's the latest opportunity in a career of successful entrepreneurship and innovation in the legal space.
Mr. Perla's vision in co-founding and growing Pangea3, the outsourcing company that The Wall Street Journal said helped lead a "transformational shakeup of the legal industry," has made him widely recognized as an innovative force by outlets including, The American Lawyer (which called him a top-50 innovator), The National Law Journal (which named him a Legal Business Trailblazer & Pioneer), and the ABA Journal (which named him to its list of "Legal Rebels"). In 2010, Thomson Reuters acquired Pangea3.
Before founding Pangea3, Mr. Perla, a lawyer, worked as an associate at Katten Muchin Rosenman in New York and as the vice president of business and legal affairs at the job placement website Monster.com. At Bloomberg BNA, he has been entrusted to help grow the company's legal business, which includes the flagship Bloomberg Law legal and business intelligence research system.
In addition to Mr. Perla, the twenty-five-member class of fellows elected to the College of Law Practice Management in 2015 includes Professor William Henderson of Indiana University, a frequent writer on the business of law who earlier this year was named the most influential person in legal education by National Jurist magazine.
