NEW YORK, July 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- RapidSOS today announced that David Nagel, former CTO of AT&T and SVP for Research and Development at Apple and current General Partner at Forté Ventures, is joining the RapidSOS Advisory Board. Nagel brings 30+ years' experience pioneering major innovations at Apple, AT&T, NASA, and PalmSource to RapidSOS. As part of joining, Forté Ventures also invests in RapidSOS.
"For over 30 years Dave has driven cutting-edge innovations at the intersection of technology and telecommunications," said Michael Martin, RapidSOS CEO. "Dave will be working with us to bring that same innovation to public safety, helping us connect any device – car, home, wearable, smartphone – directly to 911 and first responders in an emergency."
Nagel championed much of the human-centric design that would come to shape modern technology. His experience includes serving as President of AT&T Labs, CTO of AT&T, CTO of Concert, Inc., a joint venture of AT&T and British Telecom (BT), SVP responsible for the Advanced Technology Group and the Worldwide Research and Development Group at Apple, President and CEO of PalmSource, Inc., and a senior leader at NASA's Ames Research Center.
"After spending years working in the tech and telecom industry, I'm excited to join RapidSOS to bring this technology to public safety," said Nagel. "For decades, top technology companies like Apple and AT&T have been handicapped by our nation's legacy E911 system – RapidSOS is completely transforming that system, turning 512 bytes into a rich data link."
Nagel joins three former FCC Chairmen, senior executives from telecom and the defense industry, past presidents of the major public safety organizations, and thought leaders across health and medicine from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in building RapidSOS' Emergency Platform – linking smartphones, connected cars, wearable, and home IoT devices directly to 911 and first responders with rich data.
