David M. Brantner Named President, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines; Matthew F. Bromberg Named President, Pratt & Whitney Aftermarket; Todd J. Kallman to Retire
EAST HARTFORD, Conn., June 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Pratt & Whitney today appointed David Brantner, 46, president, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines, and Matthew Bromberg, 43, president, Pratt & Whitney Aftermarket, both reporting to Paul Adams, chief operating officer. Brantner and Bromberg succeed Todd Kallman who announced his intent to retire from UTC. Brantner, Bromberg and Kallman will ensure an effective transition through the end of September. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
"We have achieved great success in recent years in the commercial engine segment, winning five new platforms and multiple sales campaigns," said Pratt & Whitney President David Hess. "With more than 3,500 firm and optional orders for our PurePower® engines, our technology is transforming commercial aviation. As a result, we are working to meet a record number of program milestones and achieve on-time entry into service."
"Simultaneously, the aftermarket segment is increasingly competitive and rapidly changing. Pratt & Whitney has a unique opportunity to build on the strength of its global aftermarket network to respond to evolving market forces," Hess said.
Brantner will lead all Commercial Engines program management, sales and marketing activities. He and his team will support airlines and OEM aircraft manufacturers with the company's renewed portfolio of Pratt & Whitney and IAE engines. In particular, the Commercial Engines team will continue to deliver on program targets and market our new family of PurePower Geared Turbofan™ engines.
Bromberg will lead a dedicated aftermarket organization. This new entity will consolidate commercial aftermarket sales, operations, materials management, customer service, fleet management programs and in-service fleet support. It will leverage Pratt & Whitney's unique aftermarket expertise and global service network to achieve synergies and drive standardization. "These efficiencies will ultimately benefit our customers," Hess said.
Brantner's extensive and varied experience in finance, strategy, business development and strategic sourcing has prepared him well for this role. From 2005 to 2011 he was vice president, Strategy and Development, leading our strategic planning process and playing a key role in Pratt & Whitney's acquisition of a majority stake in IAE. Since early 2012, Dave was vice president, Strategic Sourcing, where he contributed to developing and launching a comprehensive supply chain strategy in support of the Geared Turbofan program objectives.
Bromberg brings a strong set of skills and experiences to this new position given his demonstrated high performance across a broad variety of roles in strategy, business development, general management and customer service. From 2009 to 2011 he was Hamilton Sundstrand's vice president and general manager, Customer Service, where he launched a best-in-class Customer Support Center and was instrumental in supporting the Boeing 787 entry into service. In November 2011, he was appointed to his current role as UTC vice president, Corporate Strategy and Development, leading UTC's strategic planning process and successful M&A activities.
"Pratt & Whitney has an 88-year legacy of delivering dependable engines and services to our customers and in leading the industry in delivering innovative propulsion technology that advance aviation across all sectors," Hess said. "With this new structure we look forward to working with our customers to deliver even better products and services that continue building on that legacy."
