SAN CARLOS, Calif., June 28, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation (ALCF), one of the largest philanthropies devoted exclusively to eradicating lung cancer through research, early detection, education and treatment, today announced that it has named David LeDuc as its new executive director.
Mr. LeDuc most recently served as the senior director of strategic alliances for the Addario Lung Cancer Medical Institute (ALCMI), a partner foundation to ALCF, where he was responsible for building an ecosystem of industry, foundation, corporate, and other strategic partners for ALCMI. Mr. LeDuc also led efforts to identify and cultivate potential member institutions while leading the development of innovative partnerships to advance ALCMI's mission.
Mr. LeDuc brings nearly 25 years of senior executive experience to the role and has a proven track record in strategic planning, innovative marketing, fundraising, and raising public awareness for cancer and other causes. Prior to ALCF, he was senior director of development at Free to Breathe and former executive director of the Wisconsin Foundation.
"David's expertise within non-profit leadership and fundraising, combined with his understanding of the profound impact of lung cancer on patients and their families, made him the standout candidate in a field of national applicants," said Bonnie J. Addario, 12-year lung cancer survivor and ALCF founder. "I am proud to work with David to save patients' lives."
Mr. LeDuc began his career in cancer advocacy in May, 2000 shortly after his father passed away from the disease. It is that personal experience that influences his day-to-day work and serves as a constant reminder of the importance of patient education, access to care, and research advancement.
"I am excited and honored to be selected as the executive director at ALCF and I cannot express how grateful I am to Bonnie and the Board for entrusting me with this responsibility," Mr. LeDuc said. "As someone who has lost his hero and too many friends and family to cancer, I look forward to working with the Board, staff and dedicated supporters to achieve our goal of making lung cancer a chronically managed disease by 2023."
