MIAMI, Dec. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Rick Wesslund, Founder and Chairman of BDC Advisors, LLC, a healthcare strategy firm, announced today that David Ertel, a nationally known leader in healthcare finance and business strategy, had joined the firm as a Senior Advisor. With a career spanning healthcare investment banking, and the financial management and business strategy of complex academic health systems, Ertel was most recently Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer for Health Affairs for The Miller School of Medicine and UHealth—the University of Miami Health System, where he was responsible for the overall business systems and operations for the health system, which included finance, strategy and business development, contracting and customer access.
In making the announcement, Wesslund commented: "David has deep experience and a distinguished career in the critical areas of value-based business operations of academic health systems, including treasury and capital markets, and mergers, acquisitions and business partnerships. Prior to his UHealth experience, Ertel was Chief Financial Officer of the Einstein Healthcare Network, and Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, which is affiliated with the Thomas Jefferson University, and includes three acute care hospitals, a national recognized rehabilitation hospital and a 450 employed medical group. Previously, Ertel was a managing director of Morgan Stanley's National Health Care Group, where he advised health systems and academic medical centers on strategy and financial matters. Before joining Morgan Stanley Ertel was Vice President and Director of the Health Care Public Finance Group at Paine Webber.
