David A. Smith Joins The Morey Corporation as New President and CEO
Seasoned Leader to Focus on Growth and Build on Legacy of 80 Year Old Company
WOODRIDGE, Ill., June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Morey Corporation (MOREY), a leader in high-reliability Electronic Manufacturing Services, is pleased to announce the appointment of David A. Smith as President and CEO.
Mr. Smith is a proven executive with a multi-decade history of creating and implementing successful growth strategies for manufacturing and advanced technology companies in commercial and specialized industries.
Immediately prior to joining MOREY, Smith was the President and CEO of Optellios, a designer and manufacturer of sophisticated fiber optic sensing technology for long distance monitoring, detection and security for critical infrastructures. Under his leadership, Optellios achieved significant year over year revenue growth and a superior technology position in the industry.
Prior to this, Smith was the Senior Vice President and General Manager of EMS Technologies' Defense and Aerospace division. There, over a three year period, Smith more than doubled the size and revenue of that division from $45 to 100 million, making it the largest and most profitable division in the company.
Previous appointments also include CEO and Managing Director of Metal Storm, Inc., President and COO of SensSyTech, Executive Vice President of Amphenol and a leader at GE where he oversaw the entire $2 billion budget and staff to deliver the combat system for SEAWOLF submarine.

Mr. Smith graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then went into Naval Aviation, where he flew a number of Navy Tactical and Surveillance aircraft, including the FA-18. He also holds an MBA from Syracuse University.
