WASHINGTON, Jan. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Deloitte announced today that Dave Mader, a longtime leader in the federal government community, joins Deloitte Consulting LLP's federal government practice as chief strategy officer for its civilian sector, a diverse group of more than 22 citizen-facing agencies. In addition to shaping and driving strategy, Mader will focus on helping agencies with complex business challenges, especially those that require cross-agency collaboration. Mader will also lead the expansion of Deloitte's shared services offerings, its cross-federal approach to reduce the government's amount of improper payments and the expansion of its enterprise risk management work.
"Dave Mader has the right combination of knowledge and experience as well as a hands-on, collaborative approach to problem-solving, which makes him a natural fit for Deloitte," said Dan Helfrich, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP and federal government services leader. "Dave's insight into government operations and the impact that he makes on whatever project he takes on will help our federal clients identify and employ innovative ways to drive efficiency and value in their operations."
"There are just a few people who can match Dave Mader's understanding of the federal government and in this role, he will bring tremendous experience and insight to help our federal clients," said Diane Murray, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP and federal civilian sector leader. "I've personally worked with and have known Dave for many years, and I have always admired and respected his work as a leader. We have reached a pivotal moment for the federal government and Dave's extensive knowledge will prove invaluable for our clients at this critical time."
Most recently, Mader served as the Office of Management and Budget Controller in which he designed and led the first government-wide initiative to create a new mission support function shared services strategy. The strategy included a new governance board and operational organization housed in the General Services Administration that provides day-to-day oversight for providers and customers.
"My passion lies in tackling complex government business challenges, which is why I'm excited to join Deloitte as we continue to develop better solutions to improve how government operates," said Mader. "In particular, I will continue to be a zealous advocate for shared services and improper payments reduction as the demand for a more efficient and effective government will only continue. Deloitte has always been at the forefront of developing innovative solutions. Our shared passion and purpose for making an impact and helping government improve the lives of citizens made my new role a natural fit."
Mader's previous government work also includes more than 30 years with the Internal Revenue Service, which concluded with a three-year stint as the Acting Deputy Commissioner. Mader has received numerous awards for his work, including the Presidential Distinguished Executive Award, Presidential Meritorious Executive Award, Internal Revenue Service Commissioner's Award and the Secretary of Treasury Honor Award.
Throughout his career, Mader has published a number of industry-related articles; sat on key industry boards such as the American Council for Technology-Industry Advisory Council's ACT Advisory Board, International Institute of Business Technology; and was named a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.
Mader holds a Bachelor of Science in political science from Mt. St. Mary's University and completed the Syracuse University Maxell School of Public Administration Mid-Career Program.
