Dave Arnold, Communications Director for Former Rep. Anthony Weiner and Aide to Former City Council Member Eric Gioia, Joins MWW Group As Vice President
Arnold Brings Wide Range of Political Communications and Campaign Management Expertise to Leading Global PR Firm
NEW YORK, Aug. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MWW Group (www.mww.com), one of the top ten global independent public relations firms, announced today that Dave Arnold has joined the firm as vice president. Arnold most recently served as communications director for former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY), overseeing the congressman's media outreach, strategic messaging and issues management.
Arnold brings several years of high-level political communications and media relations experience to MWW Group. From national healthcare reform to the recent budget battles in Congress, Arnold helped aggressively promote Weiner's numerous legislative and policy priorities in local, national and international media, and helped transition him from a locally-known politician to one of the most high-profile members of Congress, prior to Weiner's resignation earlier this year.
"Dave's experience in American politics and his range of expertise from media relations to digital and social media will be a great asset to MWW's clients in all industries," said Michael W. Kempner, president and CEO of MWW Group. "With his unique perspective, Dave will help our corporate and consumer clients better navigate the political and media landscape to ensure brands maintain relevance in the split-second news cycle."
In his new role, Arnold will counsel MWW Group clients across a range of verticals on the strategic use of media relations. He will focus particularly on MWW Group's award-winning corporate communications and public affairs practices, which both deliver deep expertise and industry knowledge that is backed by some of the strongest media and political relationships in the industry. Arnold will be based in the firm's New York City office.
Prior to serving in Rep. Weiner's office, Arnold worked in the press office of former New York City Councilman Eric N. Gioia during the Councilman's 2009 bid for Public Advocate. Before becoming involved in New York City politics, Arnold wrote for the opinion page of the Wisconsin State Journal, where his columns focused on political and youth issues.
Arnold was born and raised in northern Wisconsin and studied politics, history and journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
