FLORHAM PARK, N.J., Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- DataMotion™, an experienced email encryption and health information service provider (HISP), today announced its Direct Secure Messaging (DataMotion Direct) and SecureMail services have been selected for the second consecutive year as the technology backbone for demonstrations during ADA 2015 on the secure exchange of digital images and patient records between dentists, dental specialists, other healthcare entities and patients themselves. The company will also be offering special reduced rate bundles for the services to attendees. ADA 2015, America's Dental Meeting, is the industry's premier annual event - attended by thousands of dentists and dental professionals - and will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on November 5-10 in Washington, D.C.
DataMotion's technology will support demos during the course "Secure Exchange of Digital Images and Data for Dental Practices," conducted multiple times to provide continuing educational credit for dentists and ADA 2015 participants. DataMotion Direct and DataMotion SecureMail will be used to illustrate simple, effective Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM), focusing on the live exchange of dental patient images between EMR systems. The demonstrations will show how using a third-party HISP provides the security, authentication and encryption needed to meet Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements. The Course Team will be led by Gregory G. Zeller, DDS, MS, associate dean for clinical affairs and professor at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. Dr. Zeller also chairs the ADA Standards Committee for Dental Informatics and leads other standards development activities.
"It's no longer theoretical - the dental industry offers products to dental providers to securely and privately share critical patient information in order to provide the best dental care possible while protecting the data," said Dr. Zeller. "Direct Secure Messaging and email encryption services are efficient, cost-effective tools for sharing that data safely and in compliance with law, regulations, and best practices. With data breaches continuing to pose a problem, use of encryption is vital for protecting patient personal health information and for assuring that the provider complies with all requirements. As a recognized provider of secure and private messaging services to the dental industry, DataMotion is, for the second consecutive year, an instrumental member of the team at the ADA Annual Session demonstrating standards-based interoperability through multi-vendor 'real world' demonstrations of dental data exchange."
In this course, Dr. Zeller and the Course Team will show attendees how to:
- Evaluate digital EHR and imaging system features for successful exchange of images and data;
- Improve methods for securely exchanging and transmitting digital patient images and data; and
- Use standards-based criteria for sharing of patient images and EHR data among vendor systems.
"Secure Exchange of Digital Images and Data for Dental Practices" is planned for four different time slots (ET): Nov. 5 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (No. 5901) and 2:00-4:00 p.m. (No. 5911), and Nov. 6 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (No. 6901) and 2:00-4:00 p.m. (No. 6911).
During ADA 2015, DataMotion will offer a special discounted service bundle for dentistry including both DataMotion Direct and DataMotion SecureMail. DataMotion Direct offers easy-to-use data transfer capabilities for "real-world" healthcare communications that conform to HIPAA regulations, including secure email for sending and receiving PHI, discharge and referral documents and large images for both in and out-of-network communications. DataMotion SecureMail is a comprehensive set of HIPAA compliant email encryption services for exchanging sensitive health information with providers, partners, patients, payers and more.
"As a HISP, it's gratifying to be selected again for these demos, but most important, it's encouraging to see secure electronic communications being leveraged to achieve operational efficiencies and better patient outcomes," said Bob Janacek, CTO of DataMotion. "Exchanging dental images in a secure, interoperable manner is a frequent request of our dental customers, and our Direct and SecureMail solutions make this as simple as sending an email."
ADA 2015 attendees are encouraged to visit DataMotion at booth #3618 to learn more and to take advantage of the special DataMotion Direct and SecureMail service bundles offered at the event. For more information on DataMotion, please visit www.datamotionhealth.com.
