The following are a few of the many DataMotion highlights from the past year.
Technology Developments:
- DataMotion Direct & Expanded Company Focus: In late fall 2012, the company expanded its focus by beginning operations as a HISP. DataMotion Direct, a secure messaging service enabling healthcare organizations to integrate with the Direct Project and meet real-world secure communications needs, was launched as a critical component to this initiative. The service enables organizations to comply with Meaningful Use Stage 2 (MU2) and qualify for subsidies from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT.
- DataMotion Direct Toolkit: Enables health information systems (HIS) vendors that develop electronic health records (EHR), health information exchanges (HIE) and integrated delivery network solutions to qualify their systems' interoperability capabilities as required for MU2 incentive payments.
Industry Partnerships:
- DataMotion Joins DirectTrust: The company became one of the inaugural partners to officially join the independent non-profit trade association created by and for participants in the Direct secure messaging community. Members of DirectTrust now include representatives from HISPs, HIEs, Certificate Authorities, consultants, state agencies, and EHR vendors, as well as healthcare providers.
- DataMotion and DigiCert: DataMotion became the first HISP to use DigiCert's dual-mode Direct Med Certificate Authority in the DirectTrust Transitional Trust Anchor Bundle. This partnership expanded common dual-mode certification, making it simpler for federal and non-federal organizations to engage in the secure electronic exchange of healthcare information.
Customer Win Examples:
- East Tennessee Health Information Network (etHIN) added the DataMotion Direct secure messaging service to its suite of product offerings to enable secure, provider-to-provider electronic health information exchange. etHIN facilitates electronic exchange in a primary Community of Care covering a 17-county area of Middle East Tennessee. Within the region, etHIN's information exchange services target the support of more than 1.2 million patients, 2,500 physicians, and 4,500 hospital beds, as well as 11 hospital systems.
- Medflow, the leading provider of EHRs for ophthalmology, selected DataMotion Direct to enable the secure exchange of protected health information (PHI) among its member base of more than 550 practices and 2,800 eye care physicians nationwide.
- SuccessEHS, a nationally acclaimed vendor providing a single Practice Management and EHR solution, integrated DataMotion Direct secure messaging as "relied-upon software" to achieve MU2 certification. After a comprehensive review of HISPs, SuccessEHS selected DataMotion Direct because it integrated quickly and seamlessly with SuccessEHS's architecture, while greatly minimizing risk and lowering costs.
- GNYHA Services, an acute care group purchasing organization affiliated with Premier, Inc., which represents more than 300 acute care hospitals and over 1,500 healthcare-related facilities, signed a purchasing agreement with DataMotion. This agreement enables GNYHA Services members to take advantage of discounted rates for easy-to-use encryption solutions for delivering email and files securely, such as DataMotion SecureMail, SecureMail Gateway, Secure File Transfer, SecureMail Automation, SecureContact, and DataMotion Direct.
Addition of Key Healthcare IT Executives:
- Health IT Strategist, Andrew Nieto, was hired to further support the company's rapidly developing healthcare initiatives. In his role, Nieto is spearheading DataMotion's presence as a HISP, overseeing the company's DataMotion Direct secure email service and defining its long-term healthcare strategy.
- Director of Business Development - Healthcare, Hugh Gilenson, and Director of Healthcare Solutions Sales, Shane Kielmeyer, were added to keep pace with growing demand from healthcare organizations for DataMotion Direct.
"For more than 14 years, DataMotion has been a trusted provider of secure data delivery services, with millions of users worldwide relying on our solutions. Our ability to achieve such success in healthcare continues to be a tremendous validation of our services," said DataMotion's Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Bob Janacek.
