DALLAS, Oct. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- DataBank, a leading provider of enterprise-class data center, connectivity, managed services and cloud solutions, today announces the completion of its 66-megawatt privately-owned substation at the Granite Point Campus in Bluffdale, UT. The new capacity significantly increases the power capabilities, reliability and redundancy of the data center campus. The campus currently consists of two high performance data centers, SLC2 and SLC3. DataBank intends to develop four additional data centers on the 24-acre campus, with its third data center, SLC4, to be completed later this year.
"Our new Granite Point substation sets the foundation for continued growth of our Salt Lake campus," states Kevin Ooley, President and CFO of DataBank. "The N+1 design provides significant additional capacity and redundancy to support our customers' expansion."
"We are excited to bring this additional power capacity to our SLC campus," comments Raul K. Martynek, CEO of DataBank. "With this investment and the additional data center buildings planned for the Granite Point Campus, DataBank continues its leadership position in this attractive market."
Consisting of multiple, redundant 22MW transformers, the N+1 substation was engineered to 'step down' high voltage electricity from the transmission system and includes:
- Direct power feeds from Rocky Mountain Power
- Diverse A&B feeds with 138,000 volts per feed
- Safety switch with SF6 high voltage breaker
