Data for Global Good: Seed Wins Long-Term Contract to Fuel Data-Driven Innovation and Decision-Making at the United Nations
NEW YORK, March 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Seed, the consultancy for the data era, today announced that it has won a global, multi-year Long-Term Arrangement (LTA) from UNICEF. Under the agreement, Seed will provide data management, data science, data visualization, data dissemination, and related support services, fueling and supporting groundbreaking data-driven innovation and decision-making projects. The LTA was awarded to Seed following a competitive bidding process that began in May 2013.
Since 2012, Seed has been leading various flagship data modernization efforts across the UN system. Most recently, Seed was awarded a contract from UNDP and the UN Millennium Campaign to lead the design and development of MY World, The United Nations Global Survey for a Better World. Integrating multi-channel data collection, data and network science, real-time data visualization and mapping, and open data dissemination, the project has brought the voices of 1.5 million citizens from 193 countries into the process for setting the Post-2015 Development Agenda. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has described the project as "unprecedented and invaluable."
Earlier this year at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Seed and UNDP convened leaders in the public and social sectors to explore new frontiers in data-driven innovation and decision-making.
"We are very excited to be broadening and deepening our work with the UN, leveraging the power of data for global good," said Adam Bly, CEO at Seed. "We look forward to working with partners across the UN system over the coming years to support, modernize, amplify, and link their efforts with data."
