Daniel Pearl Foundation Appoints Andrew Diamond Interim Executive Director
Respected Non Profit Executive to Provide Strong Leadership
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Daniel Pearl Foundation (www.danielpearl.org) today announced that Andrew R. Diamond, a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the non-profit community, has been appointed the Foundation's Interim Executive Director. His appointment takes effect immediately.
"We are thrilled that Andy has accepted our offer to become Interim Executive Director," said Judea and Ruth Pearl, co-founders of the Daniel Pearl Foundation. "His extensive background in the administration of not for profit agencies will prove an asset in enhancing our programs, strengthening our relationships with our partners, and implementing our new strategic plan. Andy is passionate about our Foundation's mission and will provide strong leadership."
Prior to accepting the position, Mr. Diamond served for 23 years as President and CEO of Aviva Family and Children's Services. His stewardship of that organization resulted in an enormous expansion of its mental health, educational and social services, as well as a successful capital campaign to build and acquire a new school building and agency headquarters.
"I am honored to be associated with the Pearls and the important work undertaken by this dynamic organization. The Daniel Pearl Foundation, through its journalism fellowships, and training of youth, has encouraged integrity and truth in journalism as an integral part of a free press. Its annual World Music Days celebrates the international language of music which transcends differences and promotes intercultural understanding and tolerance," said Mr. Diamond.
A highly experienced and respected social worker and nonprofit executive, Mr. Diamond retired from Aviva Family and Children's Services in 2011 and has since been consulting with several non-profit agencies. He also currently serves on the Los Angeles County Sex Trafficking Task Force aimed at stemming the growth of children who are commercially exploited. Mr. Diamond enjoys the challenge of working with well-established nonprofits and maximizing their potential through strategic planning and organizational review.
Prior to his time with Aviva, Mr. Diamond served as President of the Association of Human Services Agencies, which represents more than 75 nonprofit community agencies that provide a wide range of child welfare, mental health, and juvenile justice services for vulnerable individuals and families in Los Angeles County. He is also a former board member of the California Alliance, a statewide association of more than 110 private nonprofit child and family serving agencies.
"We enthusiastically welcome Andy to the Foundation, and look forward to our continued success and growth under his leadership," said Dr. Judea Pearl, the Foundation's President.
