Dance Your Child's Way to a Healthy Body and Happy Heart
Primrose Schools and Children's Miracle Network partner to host national Family Dance-off competition starting Feb. 1
ATLANTA, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Primrose Schools, the leader in educational child care, has launched a national campaign to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices by encouraging families across the country to get up and dance. In partnership with Children's Miracle Network, Primrose will host a Family Dance-off competition, asking parents nationwide to submit 30-second home videos of their family's best dance moves. The winning family will receive the grand prize of $5,000 and a $30,000 donation to their local Children's Miracle Network hospital.
Childhood obesity and the need for more physical activity are critical issues for young children in America. The American Heart Association recommends that children ages two and older participate in at least 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day.
"Dancing is a fun, easy approach to introducing physical activity into your family's routine while enjoying quality time together," said Dr. Mary Zurn, vice president of education for Primrose Schools. "Not only is dance an entertaining way for children to keep their hearts healthy, but it is also a creative form of self-expression that builds self-confidence and promotes their development as happy, fit and healthy individuals."
In addition to the grand prize winner, the two runners-up will receive a Wii Fit Bundle and each weekly finalist will be awarded a Flip Video Camcorder. Family Dance-off contestants can upload their videos to www.FamilyDanceOff.com between Feb. 1 and March 19 for a chance to win. From March 22-26, the weekly finalists will be featured on the site and visitors will be able to vote for their favorite. The grand prize winner and two runners-up will be selected on March 31. The contest is open to all families nationwide. Please visit the Web site for the official game rules and contest details.
