Dance Sensation Javier 'Poty' Castillo Inspires Latinos to Tango, Samba and Salsa Their Way to a Healthier Lifestyle
GLENDALE, Calif., Aug. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Latinos everywhere have fallen in love with Latin dance sensation, Javier 'Poty' Castillo, director of choreography for Univision's leading reality television dance show, Mira Quien Baila(SM). Poty, Spain's most popular choreographer, is actively touring the country inspiring Latinos to embrace their inner rhythm and passion for dance as a means to an active and healthier lifestyle.
"Dance is for everyone! I truly believe that living is dancing and dancing is living," said Poty. "Music and dance are a part of Latin culture. I want our community to celebrate who they are and to dance their way to a healthier lifestyle."
With this goal in mind, Poty has become the face of Nescafe Clasico's 'Celebra Nuestro Ritmo' campaign. The campaign will use social media and local community events in leading Hispanic markets to promote the benefits of embracing your inner rhythm and dancing.
"Dance, like "cafe" is part of Latin culture, and at Nescafe Clasico we've always celebrated living life with "alegria" and have been a supporter of the arts for years," said Adam Graves, Marketing Manager, Nescafe Clasico. "We're excited to partner with Poty because his passion for life and dance pairs so well with our brand values."
The campaign was just kicked-off on the Nescafe Clasico Facebook Page, Nescafe Latino, with a short Spanish language instructional dance video series called "Step by Step" where Poty teaches the basic steps of Salsa. This is the first of 24 online videos that will cover a variety of Latin dance styles for Nescafe Latino's Facebook fans.
Starting in September consumers will have the opportunity to enter for a chance to win a trip to New York, including a private dance lesson with Poty.*
Also next month, Poty will tour with Nescafe Clasico's 'Celebra Nuestro Ritmo' Cafe Day events featuring live dance performances, music, and Nescafe Clasico cafe**. The Cafe Day events are being organized in collaboration with the National Association of Latino Arts and Culture (NALAC), an organization which Nescafe Clasico supports.
Dancing provides the cardio benefits of an aerobic workout, and is increasingly becoming a more popular way of working out. Not only has dancing been linked to boost emotional well-being and mental alertness, but, according to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, it can lower the risk of coronary heart disease, decrease blood pressure, help manage weight, and strengthen leg and hip bones.
"I've been drinking Nescafe coffee longer than I've been dancing and now I get to celebrate my passion for both," said Poty. "From our hearts to our feet, we invite everyone to get geared up to celebrate their Latin vibrancy throughout the country!"
