This Friday (26 July 2013) Dubai Autodrome, under the auspices of the DAMC, will host the first rookie workshop for drivers wanting to know more about how to step up into the UAE national racing scene, specifically the NGK Racing Series - the workshop takes place at the venue on Friday, 26 July from 16:00 to 18:00.

One of the most popular activities during the course of the year at the Autodrome are invariably Track Days and Track Evenings for car enthusiasts. These sessions offer participants an opportunity to drive their cars at high speeds on a race circuit, in near racing conditions with full marshal and emergency services in attendance - no compromise when it comes to safety.
Many drivers contesting the NGK Racing Series, including the popular Clio Cup, also use these track day sessions as testing and training for their racing exploits.
Inevitably keen enthusiasts will be exposed to the race drivers and if 'racing is in their blood' they will fancy having a go at it themselves. Doing hot laps, consistent laps and maximising what one gets out of one's own car is a challenge no doubt, but the itch to race often becomes a factor which individuals need to scratch.
On the same lines of the successful and popular Rookie Workshops for wannabe motorcycle racers, the DAMC (Dubai Autodrome Motorsport Club) have introduced a similar concept for drivers wanting to break into the sport at UAE national level.
The free Rookie Workshop is made up of a series of lectures, on the day, by experienced racing drivers and provides participants with facts and insight into racing in the UAE; how to get started, race licenses, types of categories, championship details, race day preparation and everything in between.
Workshop co-ordinator Richa Mergulhao said, "Following from the popular Rookie Workshop for the two wheel brigade, we felt that a similar concept would be of great help to drivers with car racing ambitions. This will provide them with great insight on how to go racing in the UAE, and perhaps even save them from some of the pitfalls."
"Drivers who attend this free workshop do not have an obligation to race in future, that's up to them and this will probably help them in making the decision one way or the other. This is the first time we will be running the Rookie Workshop for the car drivers and look forward to welcoming those that are interested in taking the next step from participating in track days," added Mergulhao.
On the day, after the workshop, drivers can partake in the Track Evening where normal fees apply.
