Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Repeats as Top Marketing Airport in the Americas
DFW earns regional honor based on outstanding results for new air service in 2011
DFW AIRPORT, Texas, Feb. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On the strength of a record year for new air service, Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport has earned top honors in the Routes Airport Marketing Awards for the Americas region. DFW was voted the overall winner at the regional Routes Americas event, and will automatically move into the finals for the World Routes Awards scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi later in the year.
"This honor from Routes is significant in that it recognizes our ongoing effort to bring new air service home to the Dallas/Fort Worth community," said Jeff Fegan, CEO for DFW International Airport. "Our core mission is connecting the world to Dallas/Fort Worth, and 2011 was the best year in our history for attracting new international flights."
DFW earned the honor for a second consecutive year, based on a highly successful year that saw the arrival of six new airline carriers and 30 new routes. Over the past year, DFW has launched new service from Qantas, Emirates, Spirit Airlines and Air China Cargo, with JetBlue Airways and Cayman Airlines scheduled to start service in the next three months.
"We are delighted to be recognized an airport that works hard to obtain the services of airline customers, and we look forward to continuing this success and building on our existing relationships to bring more air service to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport," said Luis Perez, vice president for air service development at DFW. "The arrival of new operators like Emirates Airline and Qantas enhances our position as a worldwide gateway."
DFW was also commended by the judges for "continuing to demonstrate clearly and succinctly how they focus on their airline relations, applying a creative approach to their route development that delivers results."
"Dallas/Fort Worth (International Airport) provided a very concise and slick submission and were able to demonstrate their impressive results, together with detailing examples of their marketing communications efforts directed to airlines," said Nigel Mayes, Vice President & Commercial, UBM Aviation Routes Limited.
The Routes Airport Marketing Awards honor airports that carry out the highest standards of marketing activities, as judged by the world's airlines. The award was announced last night at the fifth annual Routes Americas air route development event held in Nassau.
