Gathering of cargo industry leadership pursuing new technologies to streamline operations
DFW AIRPORT, Texas, April 16, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is hosting the 2013 Executive Summit & Annual General Meeting for The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA), a global not-for-profit trade association representing all the major segments of the air cargo and air logistics industry. The TIACA General Meeting takes place at the Omni Mandalay Hotel in Irving, and this year's conference theme is 'Facing the Future Together.'
"DFW Airport is pleased and proud to be serving as the host airport for the 2013 TIACA Executive Summit & Annual General Meeting," said DFW Airport CEO Jeff Fegan. "There is a tremendous contribution that the air cargo makes to our local economy and the global economy, and we have focused a tremendous amount of effort at DFW to develop our cargo business. We see air cargo as a very important and growing contributor to the success of the Airport and our region."
Attendees at this year's TIACA conference will be pursuing solutions on ways to adopt new technology into the air cargo industry as a whole. The summit will include plenaries and workshops addressing the utilization of e-commerce principles, as well as how the freight industry can adopt new technology in the workplace to improve speed and efficiency.
"We are working in a world of unprecedented challenges and opportunities and it is clear that the organizations that are best informed and best prepared for these changing market conditions will be the ones that prosper," said Daniel Fernandez, Secretary General of TIACA. "At our Executive Summit we will have leading experts on hand to give their opinions and advice on all of the major issues affecting our businesses and industry right now and to look at the most effective ways to grow and protect ourselves and our customers in what remains a volatile economic market."
Additional workshops will look at streamlining and securing the supply chain, emerging trends affecting air cargo, how the industry and customs authorities can cooperate to speed up global trade, and getting ready for the impact of new sustainability laws.
The conference attendees will include a combination of cargo airlines, forwarders, airports, ground handlers, road carriers, customs brokers, logistics companies, shippers, IT companies, aircraft and equipment manufacturers, trade press, and educational institutions.
