DALLAS, Nov. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The nationally recognized trial law firm Simon Greenstone Panatier Bartlett, PC, is offering a total of $50,000 in annual scholarships for the second straight year to help further the education of Dallas County students whose lives have been disrupted by cancer.
The Simon Greenstone Panatier Bartlett Scholarship of Communities Foundation of Texas was created to provide scholarships to graduating seniors from any public or private high school in Dallas County who have been affected by cancer in one of the following ways:
- An immediate family member (mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, brother or sister) is currently diagnosed with cancer and/or is in treatment for cancer;
- An immediate family member has passed away within the last two years from cancer; or

The law firm awarded $10,000 scholarships for the 2015-16 school year to five students now attending Kansas State University, Collin County Community College, Samford University, Texas A&M Commerce and Austin College.
"We are honored to be able to help these deserving students," says David C. Greenstone, a founding shareholder at the firm, which represents people who have suffered from various cancers, including those caused by toxic substances or pharmaceuticals. "We are looking forward to helping more students, and their families, in the coming year."
The selection criteria include scholastic achievement, school and community participation, demonstrated leadership potential, and a written description of the hardship, financial or otherwise, due to cancer. Two letters of recommendation are required. This is a one-year scholarship with the opportunity to reapply.
The application deadline is Feb. 1, 2016 and recipients will be notified by March 1, 2016.
