DALLAS, Oct. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The saying "Everything is bigger in Texas" may come to mind when learning about the significant support of the Dallas-Fort Worth business community at this year's St. Jude Evening Under the Stars Party and Golf Classic hosted by chairs Holly and Doug Brooks, former CEO and chairman of Brinker International, Inc.
The gala for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® will start at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Omni Dallas Hotel, and the tournament tee time is at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at the Stonebriar Country Club.
Approximately 100 local sponsors, including presenting sponsor T-Mobile, Operated by Amtel, LLC, stepped up to help break fundraising records for children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases, and 11 national St. Jude partners, including Chili's® Grill & Bar and Del Frisco's Restaurant Group, have engaged their local customers and employees to rally around the cause.
"The general public and our amazing partners make it possible for us to save children together," said Kathy Fairbanks of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude. "Their dedication to the St. Jude mission energizes those around them – which plays a huge part in our continued success – because our communities embrace what we do."
Fairbanks said the goal is to connect businesses and private supporters in a shared vision that supports local children who might receive care at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as well as the thousands of families around the globe who benefit from its research discoveries that are freely shared with doctors and scientists everywhere.
Since its inception, the event has raised more than $14 million for St. Jude, including $1.7 million last year alone. Thanks to generous donors, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
More than 1,200 guests are anticipated to attend the gala emceed by Scott Murray of Murray Media. During the event, NFL Hall of Fame legend Tim Brown and his wife Sherice will be honored. There will be a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions, and entertainment by the Ice House Band.
