Dallas County Judge dismisses significant product liability suit filed against Michelin
Decision says there was no evidence showing the tire was defective and the cause of 2011 single-vehicle accident in Illinois
GREENVILLE, S.C., April 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Last week, a judge in Dallas County, Texas, granted summary judgment in a product liability lawsuit against Michelin North America, Inc. The lawsuit claimed a defective tire caused an accident rendering the plaintiff quadriplegic.
In his decision, the 134th Judicial District Court decided there was no evidence to support any of the plaintiffs' claims that the Michelin tire was defective and caused the accident.
The Court issued summary judgment just two days before trial. Michelin was prepared to demonstrate to a jury that there was no defect in the tire and other factors contributed to the accident.
In response to the decision, Michelin said it values the Court's decision in this case and believes in the high quality of its tires and the rigorous efforts it takes to ensure the safety of its product. Michelin went on to say it has and will continue to zealously defend its products in cases it knows are without merit."
