Dallas Attorney Charla Aldous Wins Two of Texas' Largest 2010 Verdicts
DALLAS, May 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Two courtroom victories won by noted Dallas trial attorney Charla G. Aldous are featured among the top verdicts of the past year in Texas, including the state's largest discrimination verdict of 2010.
The two verdicts are featured in Top Texas Verdicts of 2010, a compilation from the verdict reporting service Verdict Search. The publication appears in the May 23, 2011, edition of Texas Lawyer newspaper.
In May 2010, Ms. Aldous won a $3.6 million verdict for a doctor who jurors found was the target of workplace discrimination at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. The verdict in Naiel Nassar, M.D. v. University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, et al., No. 3:08-cv-1337, ranked as the largest discrimination verdict in Texas during 2010, and the 69th largest verdict in the state.
During the trial in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Ms. Aldous proved that Dr. Nassar, a Muslim physician of Egyptian national origin, was the subject of discrimination and retaliation after resisting pressure to commit billing fraud at the hospital.
In December 2010, Ms. Aldous won a $1.8 million verdict for an Arlington developer in a lawsuit against Oncor Electric Delivery Co. The verdict in Giovanni Homes Corp. v. Oncor Electric Delivery Co. LLC, No. 048-233043-08, ranked as the 93rd largest verdict in Texas in 2010.
A Tarrant County jury in the 48th District Court found that Oncor stalled Giovanni Homes' efforts to develop several properties in Fort Worth by delaying the relocation of a power line.
