Dallas Arboretum Presents Dallas Blooms: A World of Flowers
One of America's Leading Spring Festivals Runs February 24 to April 8, 2018
DALLAS, Jan. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, named by Architectural Digest as one of the "15 Breathtaking Botanical Gardens to Visit This Season," will present Dallas Blooms, its annual floral festival that is the largest in the Southwest, from February 24 to April 8. Themed "A World of Flowers," this year's festival will feature an explosion of color from more than 500,000 spring-blooming blossoms, thousands of azaleas and hundreds of Japanese cherry trees. In 2016 and 2017, Dallas Blooms helped the Arboretum achieve two straight years of record attendance of more than one million visitors. Dallas Blooms is presented by IBERIABANK.
J. Mark Wolf, Dallas Arboretum board chairman, said, "Dallas Blooms showcases the creativity of our Horticulture staff, and this year we wanted to use their skills to celebrate some of the 90-plus countries and cultures from which the Arboretum's more than one million visitors came last year. Through flowers, plants, activities and entertainment, the incredible diversity of our world will be on display this spring."
At the International Crossroads Village, a festive central location within the garden, visitors can view a large world map created from flowers. Each week focuses on a different region such as France, the Mediterranean, Europe, Asia and the Americas, so the food, entertainment and cultural offerings will vary throughout Dallas Blooms. On Fridays, there will be an International Market featuring unique goods as well as cultural activities. Each weekend will have an International Festival showcasing that week's highlighted country through music, dance, cultural activities and vendors. Additional activities include the popular Mommy and Me Mondays, Tiny Tot Tuesdays, Master Gardener Presentations of Flowers of the World and C.C. Young Senior Thursdays.
Mary Brinegar, Dallas Arboretum president and CEO, added, "There is something for everyone at Dallas Blooms—the largest display of tulips in a public garden outside of Holland. As the tulips bloom throughout the festival, the finale is the mass flowering of the garden's collection of 3,000 azaleas that bloom along with the Japanese cherry trees, ushering in spring with vibrant color everywhere."
Dallas Blooms features 100 varieties of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, pansies, violas, poppies and thousands of other spring-blooming annuals and perennials.
