Daintree Networks Sees Wide-Open Future: 2X Growth In 2013 Points To Success Of Company's Open Standards Strategy In Building Energy Management
Innovative leader poised to change the face of smart building energy management
LOS ALTOS, Calif., March 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Daintree Networks, Inc., a leading provider of networked wireless control solutions for smart buildings, today announced that the company experienced dramatic 2X revenue growth from 2012 to 2013. Led by a team of industry veterans, including newly appointed Vice President of Marketing and Channels Mandeep Khera, the company has racked up a string of notable successes as it seeks to lead the industry toward a new era of simplified building energy management.
Daintree recently reached the remarkable milestone of achieving 30 million square-feet in total customer area served, thanks to growing awareness of the myriad benefits associated with implementing controls for lighting, HVAC (thermostat), and other building controls in one integrated solution that utilizes open standards and intelligent analytics. Commercial structures, from industrial warehouses and office buildings to multi-site retail facilities, schools and universities, are seeing outstanding results.
United Stationers, a wholesale business-products distributor, achieved monthly lighting savings of 94 percent after it installed an intelligent lighting system consisting of LED fixtures and Daintree's ControlScope™ smart building control system in the office and break rooms at its Sacramento, Calif., site. Noted the facility's maintenance manager, Ted Pinnow, "Running a business effectively and being environmentally responsible are not mutually exclusive. The ControlScope product has played a significant role in helping us meet our sustainability goals."
Daintree CEO Danny Yu said, "The cost-effectiveness, ROI and operational efficiencies associated with wireless-based energy controls – along with the need to address increasingly stringent codes and standards such as California Title 24 and ASHRAE – are making them increasingly attractive for broad commercial implementation. Daintree's commitment to open standards is helping customers deploy these solutions now and achieve savings while future-proofing their facility infrastructure."
Winning Awards for Making Smart Products Smarter
Over the past year, Daintree has added a number of key features to ControlScope to further equip it for broader application. In addition to automated control of lighting, ControlScope provides HVAC/thermostat, fan and plug-load control, energy monitoring and power metering, as well as monitoring of environmental conditions such as air quality and humidity. Other enhancements include easier commissioning, new dashboard reports, demand response features and Big Data analytics.
ControlScope also boasts the ability to provide both granular control of luminaires and zonal controls at the circuit level so that customers can deploy the system in the most cost-effective manner, which is not possible with other granular-only offerings on the market. Moreover, Daintree has enabled wireless integration directly into LED drivers and light fixtures that work seamlessly with ControlScope – an industry-first capability, enabled by the company's use of open, interoperable standards, that dramatically reduces deployment costs.
These advances have garnered Daintree recognition by a range of industry organizations, including:
- Building Operating Management – ControlScope received the publication's reader-selected Top Products Award two years in a row – in the Lighting Controls category for 2013, and Thermostat Management in 2014, signaling users' positive response to the product's broadened capabilities.
- Greentech Media – The outlet cited Daintree as one of 20 companies to watch in intelligent efficiency, noting in a 2013 special report that it is one of the leading companies layering software, building controls, and lighting systems together in an integrated package.
Seasoned Executive Driving Channel Evolution
Following on the heels of these developments, Mandeep Khera joined Daintree's management team in late 2013. Khera brings to his role as VP of marketing and channels more than two decades of experience in marketing and sales functions in enterprise software, software-as-a-service/cloud, and managed services across various industries, including Big Data analytics, security, log management, mobile application development.
"Daintree is well positioned to take advantage of this huge market opportunity to address a host of networked devices, while extending the concept to every level of an organization, leveraging its 'Enterprise Internet of Things' approach," Khera said. "In essence, we are to the commercial and industrial market what Google Nest and Xfinity Home are to the consumer market. This focus, together with the company's strong management and technical teams, attracted me to Daintree, and I'm excited to help move the company forward."
As part of his charter to address channel partners' needs, Khera is also rolling out Daintree Network Advantage, a new tiered program that empowers Daintree's value-added resellers (VARs) to grow their presence in building energy management. Partners can invest in the level – Elite, Preferred or Registered – that best allows them to align their business goals with Daintree's solutions. "Daintree currently has many quality channel partners. Our goal is to further support this already vibrant channel while attracting new partners via this structured, easy-to-implement program," Khera stated.
