Daintree Networks Continues Upward Momentum With Record-Breaking First Half
Escalating success driven by Daintree's open standards-based solutions for building energy management and full support for California Title 24 and ASHRAE 90.1 compliance
LOS ALTOS, Calif., July 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Daintree Networks, Inc., the leading provider of open, networked wireless solutions for smart building control and energy management, today announced it has passed yet another impressive growth milestone. Building on its dramatic growth from 2012 to 2013, Daintree continued the momentum with record-breaking sales in the first half of 2014. Since the beginning of the year, Daintree has posted a succession of achievements that underscore the rapidly growing adoption of its technology and in intelligent building energy management overall.
"Our open standards message is resonating with building owners, managers and others who have the responsibility for putting in place systems that significantly reduce a facility's energy consumption while improving operational efficiencies and 'future-proofing' their facilities," said Daintree CEO Danny Yu. "At the same time, senior management within companies are increasingly grasping the flexibility and cost benefits of using wireless, open-standard solutions like ours to integrate and manage devices from different vendors, which will ultimately help address management of the broader Enterprise Internet of Things within buildings."
One key company achievement is the release of a solution that uniquely helps customers achieve broad compliance with codes and standards, including California's Title 24 building code, which went into effect on July 1. While many lighting-control vendors claim to be providing support for Title 24, Daintree is in an enviable position with its single networked wireless ControlScope™ solution supporting lighting, thermostat, plug-load, and other controls that are required for more comprehensive compliance.
Another achievement acknowledging Daintree's industry leadership was its selection in May as a Red Herring Top 100 North America Award winner. The recipients of the coveted annual award for top private technology companies are selected by the publication's editors from among the 3,000-plus tech startups financed each year in the U.S. and Canada. Alex Vieux, Red Herring publisher and editor, cited Daintree's "vision, drive and innovation" as prime factors impacting the company's selection for the award, against "very strong" competition.
Following closely on the heels of this honor, Daintree was doubly recognized in June during LIGHTFAIR International (LFI), the premier North American trade show for the commercial and architectural lighting markets. At the 25th annual LFI Innovation Awards, Daintree was named one of the top three providers in the "Controls, Building Integration, Site Automation and Distribution Systems" category. In addition, the company was cited for having the best booth in the Building Automation Pavilion on the show floor.
Adding to the buzz generated by Daintree at LFI was its joint announcement with LG Electronics, just prior to the show, that National Bank of Arizona had selected lighting and HVAC technologies from LG and the Daintree ControlScope wireless control solution for installation in a new 3,000-square-foot branch in Prescott, Ariz. The facility features Daintree ControlScope managing 13 lighting zones of LG LED fixtures and nine thermostats controlling LG's variable refrigerant flow (VRF) air conditioning system. The overall solution was chosen for its ability and state-of-the-art energy management with an associated reduction in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
The Daintree-LG announcement further strengthened the relationship between the two companies, which, earlier in the year, introduced an industry-first fully integrated LED lighting solution with wireless control for commercial settings. Daintree estimates that the joint solution, which embeds wireless communication capability directly into LED drivers used in LG LED lighting fixtures, will save companies up to 85 percent per fixture in equipment and labor for installation and will improve energy efficiency by up to 90 percent.
Another key development in the first half was Daintree adding to its advisory board Jon Wellinghoff, former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and a partner at the law firm Stoel Rives LLP, and Luca Mazzei, vice president of strategic marketing and product management for John Crane and former vice president at Honeywell Building Solutions. The two energy and building automation industry veterans were selected for their breadth of experience and mutual desire to assist Daintree in achieving its high-level business objectives.
Daintree also continued to advance its efforts relative to broadening support of the Enterprise Internet of Things™. As Yu noted in his presentation to attendees at the Semico IMPACT Smart Lighting event in April, networked wireless lighting is the gateway to the E-IoT™. While enterprise building management involves many capabilities beyond lighting, smart lighting is the entry point and an obvious application – making Daintree well positioned to continue augmenting its long list of achievements.
