DailyCandy Launches First-of-Its-Kind Geo-Location Content Delivery Alert System on Android Phones in NYC
Content Reaches User Wherever She Is, Whenever It's Most Relevant
NEW YORK, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- DailyCandy, the popular women's lifestyle brand, today announced the introduction of the industry's first location-triggered content delivery system, DailyCandy Stylish Alerts, available on Android™ phones in New York City in partnership with Xtify, a geo-notification provider. The application delivers the company's signature fashion, food, and fun content to users in proximity of current local happenings like designer sales, spa deals, and underground concerts. The DailyCandy Stylish Alerts application is the first to deliver location-specific editorial push notifications using the location-power of the smartphone, even when the app is closed.
"DailyCandy is expanding to mobile platforms and this is the first of many," said Beth Ellard, SVP/general manager of DailyCandy. "We've been broadening our business in various ways over the past year, with our launch of Swirl by DailyCandy and distributed content via social media platforms. DailyCandy's Android alert system is a natural evolution of our brand and distribution expansion."
To access, New Yorkers simply download the DailyCandy application directly from the Android Market™ to their Android-powered phones to begin receiving mobile alerts featuring content from DailyCandy's New York edition, including Thursday's popular Weekend Guide.
The application will be ad-supported. Partners can sponsor a specific alert via ad banners or text links, or they can buy a sponsored alert containing (for example) key discount codes to be presented in-store. "Comcast has already mastered geo-location offerings via Fandango's showtimes, tickets, and movie information app," said Scott Schiller, SVP of advertising sales for Comcast Interactive Media, which owns DailyCandy. "We look at DailyCandy's Stylish Alerts offering in the same way – an ultra-useful and relevant application that will change the way users interact with the DailyCandy brand and its local content."
DailyCandy's location-triggered content delivery system is powered by Xtify, a provider of geo-notification technology to mobile application publishers. Xtify helps DailyCandy create a consumer-friendly mobile experience that delivers the most relevant content to DailyCandy customers when and where that information is most useful and actionable.
The product will launch Thursday, August 5, in New York City; other DailyCandy cities will receive the alert system in the near future. To interview a DailyCandy executive or learn more about the company's new Android app, please contact Meredith Howard at [email protected] / 646.230.8554.
