Daiber Pledges No Right-To-Work Legislation
Pledge Signing Demonstrates Union Support Against Governor Rauner's Turn Around Agenda
COLLINSVILLE, Ill., March 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Democratic candidate for Governor Dr. Bob Daiber signed a pledge today demonstrating his support for Unions, their supporters, and working families across Illinois. In a strong show of support against the Rauner Turn Around Agenda, Daiber's signing ceremony took place with Daiber's union supporters in Collinsville at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 309. "Working men and women in Illinois benefit from a strong union presence. Despite Governor Rauner's failure to set forth a budget for the past two years, Illinois has still been able to attract jobs to this great state because of the strength of its well trained workforce," stated Daiber.
Daiber cited examples of neighboring states that had passed right-to-work legislation that resulted in a decline in quality of the workforce for each state. "In Indiana, the right-to-work legislation decimated their teachers. In neighboring Wisconsin, Governor Scott Walker's war on the public sector unions has resulted in the fastest shrinking middle class in America. We cannot afford the same fate for Illinois."
Daiber's pledge:
No Pledge To Right-to-Work in Illinois
"Right-to-Work is Wrong for Illinois"
As a Democratic candidate for Governor of the State of Illinois,
I pledge not to sign right-to-work legislation that will impair working
men and women's right to collectively bargain, pay dues to their
respective unions, or organize to dispute work place grievances.
Furthermore, this pledge recognizes all members of labor unions
inclusive of public sector employees.
Signed this 21st day of March, 2017.
