Continued Expansion Solidifies Investment Bank's Leadership Role in the Global Transportation, Energy and Commodity Sectors
NEW YORK, Dec. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Dahlman Rose & Company, LLC, a leading investment bank specializing in natural resources, transportation, and other industries in the global commodity supply chain, announced today that it has appointed Rick Bensignor as Managing Director, Chief Market Strategist, effective immediately. In the new position, Mr. Bensignor will be responsible for creating and marketing trading strategies in equities, commodities, and other assets for the firm's institutional clients.
"We are pleased to have a professional of Rick's caliber join Dahlman Rose as we continue to expand our client-focused offerings," said Simon Rose, Chief Executive Officer of Dahlman Rose & Co. "The addition of Rick to our team represents another major milestone in what has been a banner year for our firm. During 2010, we have strategically enhanced our trading platform, increased our research offering dramatically, and expanded our investment banking capabilities, as planned. Complementing these notable achievements, we significantly strengthened our balance sheet with the $40 million investment by Lovell Minnick and bolstered our senior leadership with the addition of a new, widely respected Chairman as well as a highly regarded Chief Financial Officer. We also moved into our new 65,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in midtown Manhattan. Throughout this period of robust growth, Dahlman Rose has continued to develop strong relationships with leading institutions in North America and abroad, solidifying its role as the preeminent broker-dealer specializing in the global natural resources supply chain. Going forward, we believe Rick will add further value to our institutional clients' investment process through a unique skill set and market perspective geared towards generating actionable investment and trading ideas as we maintain our focus on the successful execution of our growth strategy."
Mr. Bensignor, 52, has approximately 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Previously, he served as Chief Market Strategist at Execution Noble LLC, the U.S. arm of the London-based investment bank. From 2006 to 2008, he was Chief Market Strategist at Morgan Stanley Principal Strategies, responsible for providing the firm's proprietary traders with strategic investment and tactical trading ideas. Prior to that, Mr. Bensignor was an Institutional Investor-ranked analyst while serving as Morgan Stanley's Chief Technical Strategist, overseeing its technical research product for approximately four years. Mr. Bensignor also served as the Head of Technical Analysis, Futures and Commodities, at Bloomberg, where he managed product development, sales and marketing. Before that, he was Morgan Stanley's Commodities Technical Strategist and head of its institutional commodity futures sales desk, which followed his 12-year trading career as a broker and independent trader on the floor of several New York futures exchanges.
"I am excited to join Dahlman Rose. The quality of its sales, trading, and research professionals helped make my decision to join the firm an easy one," said Mr. Bensignor. "The firm's specialty focus on the global transportation, energy and commodity sectors has great synergy with my background. Both the firm and I share the belief that we are in the midst of a continuous structural and secular bull market within these core areas. This is a perfect fit for us both and I look forward to contributing to the firm's ongoing success."
Mr. Bensignor has been an adjunct instructor at New York University, where he recently taught Behavioral Economics and Finance Theory and previously taught trading and technical analysis courses.
